Economics for Foreign Policy

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is holding a supplier event for the flagship Economics for Foreign Policy training course. The event will take place from 10am to 1pm on Monday 12th June, in King Charles Street, London, SW1A 2AH. Economics for Foreign Policy will provide learners with a solid grounding in the economic theory required of a diplomat working in the UK and abroad. Learners should be taught undergraduate level macroeconomics and microeconomics with a focus on international economics, given the foreign policy context. Economics for Foreign Policy should also provide learners with the ability to apply core theory in a real world foreign policy context. Learners will vary on the need to apply their learning on a daily basis or on an ad-hoc basis. The course will be delivered through the FCO Diplomatic Academy at Practitioner Level. The FCO Diplomatic Academy prides itself on delivering content through various methods, to accommodate a diverse and global network of staff. This course will therefore need to be delivered in a mixture of methods, including traditional face-to-face delivery and more modern digital/online delivery. We also welcome ideas of other innovative methods of delivering content. At this supplier event, we will provide a more detailed overview of our requirements. There will also be an opportunity for suppliers to discuss the indicative requirements of the course with an FCO member of staff in smaller groups. If you wish to attend, please contact Ruth.Green@fco.gov.uk.
