Contract value: The County of Worcestershire has an area of 1,735 km2 and a population of 557,400 (2010). The service maintains 4,061km of roads, 3,250km of footways, 1,330 bridges and structures, 105,150 drainage gullies, as well as road signs, road markings, verges and winter service including 30 gritting vehicles and vehicle maintenance of fleet vehicles.The Business Environment and Community Directorate provides customer focused services across a wide and diverse range of disciplines. The services provided affect the daily lives of all who live, work and pass through Worcestershire.The Council currently spends approximately £27m per annum on highways maintenance via a contract that ends on 31 March 2014. The volume of spend in the new contract is likely to be in the order of £20 – 30m per annum, and the upper value listed in this OJEU Notice allows for consideration of additonal funding becoming available during the life of the contract and / or inflationary factors.The contract is under NEC3 TSC target price arrangements.
