With its Education Supplies Division set up nearly 70 years ago by Kent County Council, it has grown organically since then to supply an ever-increasing range of best value goods and services to other publicly funded organisations as well as private sector organisations. These include local government, education establishments, the care sector and emergency services.Kent County Supplies (KCS) is a trading unit of the Commercial Services Department and provides a purchasing, warehousing and distribution service to a wide ranging customer base within local government, associated public bodies and private sector organisations in Kent, neighbouring counties and across the UK.Kent County Council (the Council) is the largest local authority in England covering an area of 3,500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over GBP 1bn on goods and services and a population of 1,3 m. The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district councils and 289 parish/town councils.In accordance with best procurement practice, EU and UK Procurement Directives and Regulations and Kent County Council's Standing Orders, Commercial Services wishes to create a Contract for an Outsourced Distribution Service. This service will be expected to cover a national distribution requirement. This is in keeping with KCS's on-going drive to improve efficiencies within the organisation and to improve their service to customers.KCS is seeking the provision of an outsourced next day delivery distribution solution to its customers outside of Kent to include the management of the loading bay operation for the required deliveries.
