The contract will provide an intensive, responsive and individual service to young carers in Norfolk (and their families) whose lives are affected by their caring responsibilities. Young Carers are Children and Young People up to the age of 18, whose lives are affected by caring for a relative or sometimes a friend. The cared for person usually lives in the same house as the Young Carer and may have a physical disability, mental health problem, long term illness, learning disability, suffer from substance or alcohol misuse, HIV or AIDS. The service will focus on reducing inappropriate or excessive caring, enabling the young carer to choose their caring responsibilities, and providing support to the young carer to enable that choice.
