Wirral Council's Technical Services Department is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake a range of arboricultural services in relation to Highway trees, former Social Housing Area trees and Public Open Space trees, including trees in Public Parks that are within 30 metres of a public highway.
The Contractor will be required to undertake a full tree survey to comply with BS 5837 in order to ensure a legally defensible tree inspection regime. The Contractor should refer to BS 5837 for details of the schedule of information required.
As well as carrying out both safety and general tree maintenance works, the Contractor will be required to provide professional support in the assessment of work requirements, with particular emphasis on safety, in order that the Council meets its statutory obligations.
The Contractor will also be required to create and maintain a suitable database for all of the Streetscene and highway-adjacent tree information, which will be jointly shared by the Contractor and the Council. The database must be kept up to date and must be capable of linking with the Council's existing Maplnfo GIS System.
The Contractor will also be required to provide a 24 hour, 365 days a year emergency / out of hours call out service.
The duration of the Contract will be for two years, with the option of a one-year extension if deemed necessary by the Council. The Council will expect the successful Contractor to commence work on 1.6.2013, or on a mutually agreed date, with the Contract terminating on 31.5.2015.
