Preston: Eastway Landscape Improvement Works 2013

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is seeking to appoint a Contractor to implement a roadside planting scheme and undertake landscape improvement works along a section of Eastway (B6241) and Andertons Way (B6242) in Preston, Lancashire. The works are required to discharge Condition 31 of the Preston East Employment Area (PEEA) Planning Permission (Ref: 06/2006/1154/OUT). The scope of works includes, but is not limited to; • Selective thinning to existing planting; • Gap planting with evergreen species to enhance screening properties; • Removal of existing vegetation to allow for new ground cover planting; • Crown lifting to trees and trimming of existing hedgerows; • Selective coppicing of existing planting and thinning of woodland to create small scattered glades; and • Low maintenance grass seeding. The appointed contractor will be responsible for ensuring all necessary permissions to work on the site and within the highways is obtained and copies of the Road Management Plan will need to be submitted for approval prior to the commencement of works. The appointed contractor will also be responsible for identifying services at the site and carrying out works in accordance with HSG47 HSE Guidance. The minimum level of Public Indemnity & Employers Liability insurance cover needed for this Contract is £5 million and £10 million respectively.
