Analysis of Aqueous Trade Affluent

The JET machine and associated facilities generate quantities of radioactive, process effluents and ground water which leaches into the various site building low level service duct systems. The Process Effluents includes cooling water blow down, wash water and heating system drain down, which are subsequently discharged into 'Controlled Waters'. All process effluent discharges are subject to a specific Discharge Permit issued by the Environment Agency (EA). This consent states the specific limits which must be adhered to. Discharges must be controlled and monitored to ensure The Authority's compliance with the consent. The consent limits help protect the environment and are issued under The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010. This work is in fulfilment of CCFE's statutory obligations and the analytical scheme is open to review depending on acceptance by the Environment Agency.
