Communication Services for NHS Innovation Fellowship Scheme

In March 2011 the chancellor announced as part of the Budget a review of the Adoption and Spread of Innovation in the NHS. Following extensive engagement with NHS, industry and academia, Innovation Health and Wealth (IHW) was published in December 2011 by the NHS CE and the PM (as a cornerstone for the UK Plan for Growth). IHW committed to implementing an NHS Innovation Fellowship Scheme The purpose of the NHS Innovation Fellowship is to inspire and support NHS leaders to champion innovation and develop an innovative culture. To achieve this, the Scheme will recruit the best global innovators as Fellows so that they can share their knowledge, experience and expertise with NHS organisations. As well as providing practical support to NHS Chief Executives and Boards to enable them to champion innovation across their organisations. Fellows must therefore be identified from amongst the World’s most prominent and respected leaders in innovation from the widest possible range of disciplines, sectors and countries. In addition, the identification of an organisation with sufficient kudos to Host the scheme (on behalf of the NHS) is an essential part of attracting the correct individuals to become NHS Innovation Fellows.
