The Dynamic Cover Tool (DCT) is a software solution that enables West Midlands Fire Service to dynamically relocate available vehicles in response to changing levels of fleet availability. It aids us in ensuring our spread of cover is appropriate to the level of risk within our communities and in ensuring our response standards are maintained. The DCT allows us to see the impacts drops in cover have on our response times and identify the most effective moves to make to maintain or improve these. The tool also has a pre planning mode where we are able to operate outside of the live mode to predict the impact of vehicle movements, availability and positioning. West Midlands Fire Service are looking to hear from the industry on the advances in technology and identify an 'off the shelf' solution that meets the requirements below,based on what is possible now. The solution would need to be in place by January 2020 to enable a seamless transfer from our current system.
