Public Sector Network Tender Alert

provision of courier services - firearms

In the event of an exotic disease outbreak, or other incident, the rapid culling of animals plays an important part in reducing the impact of the disease on the affected sector and the wider economy, and ultimately leads to eradicating the disease from the country. There are some instances where animals are required to be sedated, prior to culling. This is normally the case from fractious animals. The Agency currently holds 32 Pneumatic Dart Rifles (considered a section 5 weapon) on hand for deployment in an emergency. It‟s anticipated that these weapons will be held in a central armoury Worcester or Weybridge (subject to change). The services of a courier are being sought to transport the weapons from the central storage location to the point of need and ultimately back to the storage centre. The point of need may include other AHVLA sites/offices or direct to farm.
