The Policy Research Programme (PRP) is part of the Department of Health’s Research and Development Directorate. The PRP’s purpose is to provide, through high quality research, a knowledge base for health services policy, social services policy and central policies directed at the health of the population as a whole. It provides information to the Secretary of State for Health and his/her Ministers directly and through policy directorates in the Department and covers all aspects of the Department’s policy-making activity. The PRP works closely with Department of Health policy colleagues to identify research priorities, and liaises with other government departments and agencies, and with other funders on policy research issues.
