Research Tender: Research Initiative on Health and Mobile Telecommunications

1. On behalf of the funders the Department of Health’s Policy Research Programme invites full research proposals in the following areas of mobile phone technology and health • long-term behavioural/neurological outcomes in children and/or adolescents in relation to mobile phone usage; • studies in suitable models of the effects of early-life and prenatal exposure on development and behaviour; and • a study of the paradoxical effects of TETRA radiofrequency fields on human neurophysiology. 2. This invitation is for a one-stage tender process. Applications will be subject to independent peer review. Up to £1 million in total is available, for the highest quality and most relevant research proposals. 3. The funders are the UK Health Departments, the Medical Research Council, the Health and Safety Executive, and industry funders [Vodafone, Arqiva, Carphone Warehouse, BT, 3UK, Everything Everywhere EE (Orange and T-Mobile), Telefonica Europe Plc (O2)]. Funding is split equally between government/industry sources.
