Approx. 150 hospitals will be involved in SPIRIT 3. 1 000 patients will be recruited into the study over a period of 4 years. We anticipate 3-monthly deliveries of medication to all patients and patients will be on study meds for up to 10 years. Therefore there will be an estimated (1 000 x 4 x 10) = 40 000 deliveries over the lifetime of the project. During the period of the contract we may wish to offer a home phlebotomy service for trial patients.

Contract value: SPIRIT 3 is a large phase 3 National Cancer Research Institute clinical trial which will begin recruitment in May/June 2013. The study is for patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and will provide home delivery of imatinib and nilotinib (licensed, NICE approved) as well as ponatinib (not licensed as yet, provided free of charge from the trial).
