An evidence review and practice survey on oral health needs assessments

The Centre for Public Health Excellence is seeking to appoint a contractor to support the development of guidance on “Oral health: local authority strategies to improve dental health among vulnerable groups” (for the draft scope of this work, see http://guidance.nice.org.uk/PHG/61/DraftScope/pdf/English). The contractor will provide: An evidence review and practice survey on oral health needs assessments (OHNA) This consists of four components: 1. a review of English OHNAs 2. a review of published literature on OHNAs data sources, methods and processes 3. a synthesis of guidance on how to undertake an OHNA 4. a practice survey The findings will be considered by the NICE Public Health Advisory Committee (PHAC) as the basis for their recommendations. The contractor should be able to start work from March 2013. The contractor will be provided with funding for the review and practice survey work to be undertaken over the period of development of the guidance on “Oral health: local authority strategies to improve dental health among vulnerable groups” (March 2013–October 2014, with the bulk of the work to be completed by September 2013 – see Appendix 1 of the attached specification)
