The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) invites expressions of interest for a research paper that will investigate the economic impact of skilled economic migrants from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to the UK via the Tier 1 (Investor) and Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) routes of the Points Based System. To the extent that it is possible, this research should focus on assessing the contribution made by the Tier 1 migrants to the successful starting of new businesses in the UK, employment of UK residents, public finance, levels of investment, the patenting of new products and transaction costs in international trade. Outputs will be used by the MAC to inform its future work.
