Metrics Development Project for the Low Carbon Innovation Coordination Group

A core group of organisations engaged in low carbon technology activities are committed to strengthening the evaluation of their low carbon innovation programmes. At present, there is currently no consistent methodology to measure the impact of public sector funding in low carbon innovation. This research project offers the opportunity to identify and develop new low carbon metrics which can measure the impact of public sector funding against the aims of the Low Carbon Innovation Co-ordination Group (LCICG) . The LCICG is responsible for over £1billion of public spend over the period 2011-2015. The metrics would aid the appraisal and evaluation of LCICG’s low carbon innovation programmes. The metrics would enable the LCICG members to assess and aggregate the collective impact of public sector funding against the aims of the LCICG. The metrics would be required to show progress against the three core aims of the LCICG: • Deliver affordable, secure, sustainable energy for the UK • Deliver UK economic growth • Develop the UK’s capabilities, knowledge and skills.
