Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust operate hospital sites in Grimsby, Goole and Scunthorpe. Within the Trust’s remit of responsibilities it is required to provide ‘Environmental Funerals’ for those people who have died in hospital who have no next of kin or no known estate. These funerals fall under the responsibility of the Hospital Chaplain to arrange and facilitate. The purpose of this tender is to identify an approved provider to the Trust in both North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire (one provider per site), this will give the Trust a control over costs but will also represent a steady income stream for the successful supplier. In addition to the ‘Environmental Funerals’, the Trust is also obliged to provide funerals for all still births which are defined as ‘a pregnancy loss post 24 weeks gestation’. This service will also be included as part of this contract.
