The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham invite expressions of interest from suitably experienced providers to tender for a Local Emergency Support Service. As part of the Welfare Reform Act 2012, the Government is transferring some areas of the Discretionary Social Fund to local authorities to deliver in a way that meets local need. These are crisis loans and community care grant. The Local Emergency Support will be based upon the following principles and will, at all times treat those who have fallen on hard times with dignity and respect: • Transparency • Universal access • Flexibility • Parity • Connectivity Organisations may wish to consider partnership work when applying for this tender through sub contract or consortia arrangements. It is anticipated that the service will be delivered from April 2013 for a period of 2 years.
