Due to the delicate and high cost nature of the electronics contained in the ROV pods, during routine operation, it is not advisable to open the pods to investigate faults on the deck of a ship unless the conditions are benign and dry. The Authority has a requirement to purchase a workshop that will allow repairs to be carried out in a controlled and safe environment, reducing the risk of damage to the components. It will also allow the spares to be carried in an organised and better protected manner
