Public Sector Network Tender Alert

Public opinion survey on illicit tobacco in the North East

Fresh is the North East of England’s tobacco control programme working towards a shared vision of making smoking history through denormalising the use of tobacco. As part of the comprehensive programme, a key strand of activity focuses on reducing the demand for and the supply of illegal tobacco across the region. Fresh has led a dedicated programme to tackle the illegal tobacco trade since 2007 and has previously commissioned two major public opinion surveys in 2009 and 2011 to track the opinions, attitudes and knowledge of illicit tobacco and to assess the extent of the illicit tobacco market. Fresh would now like to track this further through a public opinion survey. The supplier must be able to: - Provide a meaningful benchmark against the 2009 and 2011 North East surveys and provide a trend analysis in the data - Provide statistically significant data down to each of the 12 local authority areas - Reflect the demographic make-up and smoking levels in the region - Include the views of people who admit to smoking illicit tobacco now or in the past. The anticipated length of the contract is 3 months.
