Drug and alcohol information and advice service for practitioners working with young people

The service will provide expert drug education and prevention support to all practitioners who work with young people. It will offer practical advice and information and enable schools, local authorities and others to keep abreast of developments and select education / prevention programmes known to have a positive impact. We expect the service to contribute to a number of wider Government aims. These include: • Improving attendance, behaviour and attainment of young people who are at risk of engaging in risky behaviour; • Ensuring all children and young people build resilience and gain the knowledge they need to prepare them for adult life; and • Focusing resources and developing local services to meet the needs of the most disadvantaged young people. Length of contract: Two years, with the possibility of extension for two years. Estimated date for award of contract: Early February 2013. Contracts will commence on 1 April 2013.
