Sedgemoor District Council is the Competent Harbour Authority (CHA) for the Port of Bridgwater and is responsible for the provision of services to enable it to carry out its obligations to promote and conserve the safety of navigation and the environment. This will include acting as the Harbour Master for the Port of Bridgwater including being responsible for controlling all marine emergencies within the Port of Bridgwater and for the issue of specific directions to shipping as necessary under such conditions. Exercising the Harbour Masters statutory powers of direction prohibition removal and regulation of vessels within the Port taking account of current legislation and other duties as listed in the specification.
