DFID 5956 Final Design Zambia Access to Finance Programme

To undertake the final detailed design and implementation of DFID Zambia’s Access to Finance Programme. As with other DFID funded financial access trusts and projects in Africa, this programme will work with both the public and private sectors to leverage access and facilitate financial sector development in Zambia, especially for the lower end of the market. The goal of the programme will be to make sustainable improvements in the livelihoods of poor people in rural areas. The programme will contribute to an increase in the percentage of people financially included in Zambia to 50% of the population and to a 25% average mean increase in the income levels of 200,000 rural households by 2017. The purpose of the programme will be for the financial sector to deliver a wider range of financial services to more people and businesses in Zambia. By 2017 the programme will take direct attribution for giving 300,000 additional people and businesses access to financial services (of which 195,000 will be women), providing 50,000 smallholders with access to agricultural credit (of which 25,000 women) and 12,000 SMEs access to credit from banks or microfinance institutions.
