The University of Birmingham invites tenders for supply of a Microwave/millimetre source. We need a Microwave/millimetre source with frequency outputs from DC up to 60 GHz and with an offset frequency of 10 kHz or lower and a measurement bandwidth of 1 Hz. We expect the frequency switching to be as low as possible, preferably less than 1 ms. The output spectral purity should have the single sideband (SSB) phase noise better than -120 dBc/Hz; wideband noise better than -150dBc at most frequency ranges; harmonics better than -30dBc and non-harmonic better than -65dBc. The output power should reach 15 dBm at most frequency ranges. Analog signal generators should be able to add amplitude, frequency, phase and pulse modulation. In terms of pulse modulation, the rise/fall time needs to be within 10 nS; on/off ratio better than 80 dB and minimum pulse width better than 20 nS. Multi-channel is a highly desirable feature. Each channel doesn't have to cover the entire spectral range, but the sum up of all the channels should do. It is expected to have a friendly user interface. Proper training course and assembly services are necessary. Overall budget for this item is up to ?70,000 excluding VAT This project may be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) or; - European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF) or; - Research Councils UK (RCUK), the strategic partnership of the UK's seven Research Councils.
