Herefordshire Archive Service collects, preserves and makes available for research the archives produced by a wide range of individuals and organisations in Herefordshire and the diocese of Hereford. These functions incorporate several interconnected activities: • Accessioning - the receipt and logging of archives transferred to Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre (HARC) • Cataloguing - describing archives so that they can be accessed • Preservation/ conservation - archival storage, packaging and repair of documents Currently, these processes are carried out by means of disparate paper based systems and general electronic applications. Herefordshire Council is looking to introduce an externally hosted archive management system to bring all these processes together.
