380824-2012: UK-Brighton: insurance services

Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust is procuring for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Postgraduate Deanery, Medical Indemnity cover for GP Specialty Trainees. The Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Postgraduate Deanery is responsible for facilitating the postgraduate education of doctors in Specialty training in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The Deanery, via the GP School, currently facilitates the training of around 900 GP Specialty Training Registrars (trainees) in a three year training programme (ST1, ST2 & ST3), in locations that include, but no limited to, all the Acute NHS Trust Hospitals, the Psychiatric Trusts, Hospices, and around 300 GP Training Practices. The Deanery has established the concept of a single employer for GP Specialty training Registrars with the Acute Trusts around which their GP Specialty training programme is based.
Providers will be expected to integrate with, and positively contribute to KSS Deanery and trainees needs. Flexibility is essential to improve both efficiency and quality, as trainees may be transferred into the scheme at any point, have extended leave granted, transfer to a part-time basis, have extensions to the training year etc. The service is expected to adjust its capacity to meet the demand both for increasing or decreasing volumes and the changing demands of the NHS. Suppliers will be expected to demonstrate their positive contribution to integration and flexibility.
Providers will be expected to ensure continuity of supply of medical indemnity cover during contract transition and any events occurring during GP placement training that may be identified after the completion of training/period of cover under this arrangement and with minimal disruption to the delivery of GP training.
