Grant Funding Opportunity for Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Performance by Results (PbR) Capacity Building

The Government is committed to increasing efficiency, value for money and innovation in the justice sector through the expansion of the use of payment by results (PbR). The Government’s vision is of a diverse market place with competition between a wide range of providers, including both private companies and VCS organisations. However, VCS involvement in justice sector PbR pilot schemes has been limited to date. Expanding VCS involvement is crucial to the development of justice sector PbR. VCS organisations, with their local links and knowledge, specialist expertise and reputation for innovation have the potential to provide effective, locally tailored solutions to reducing re-offending. This is a grant of up to £150,000 to design a Capacity Building action plan to develop the capacity and capability of VCS organisations to successfully participate in justice sector PbR programmes. Organisations should note that the grant is being given for this very specific purpose; to produce an action plan and not to deliver a service. The Grant will be given in December 2012 for work to take place in this FY 2012/13.
