Feasibility of Surveying Civil and Family Court Users

An external research agency is required who are suitably qualified and experienced contractor to provide methodological expert advice on the feasibility of surveying people who have had contact with civil or family courts as either applicants or respondents/defendants. This work is required to assess whether and how these court customers could be surveyed to provide representative data on their characteristics, experiences and attitudes, in order for the MOJ to obtain information about the profile of its customers, their journeys to justice system, and how their resources, attitudes, knowledge and expectations influence their decisions to seek redress through courts. The contactor is also required to provide a proposal for a pilot survey to test the feasibility of the recommended approach. Consortium bids that combine experience and expertise in different elements and requirements of the work, e.g. survey design and methodology expertise, experience of research among civil and family court users and undertaking surveys, are welcomed.
