Automated Histological Slide Staining Machine

The Health Protection Agency has a requirement for an automated machine for histological staining of tissue sections on microscope slides. The machine must be able to process at least 20 slides simultaneously. The staining process involves placing slides (in a slide rack) into xylene to remove wax from the sections, different concentrations of alcohol to rehydrate and dehydrate the sections, staining with stains such as haematoxylin, eosin, PAs etc and at the end of the process xylene to facilitate coverslipping. The key qualities for this equipment are reliability, quality of stained sections, user convenience, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
