Ophir Road Footbridge Waterproofing

The footbridge spans over the A338 Wessex Way and provides a vital link over a busy dual carriageway. The bridge comprises a single span over the carriageway with spiral ramps at either end. The construction is reinforced concrete bridge supported on reinforced concrete ramps. There are four movement joints two of which are halving joints. The surfacing comprises Hot Rolled Asphalt with a depth at the crown of 65mm going down to 30mm at the edges. The works to both structures are as follows: • To remove the existing surfacing. • Remove drainage channels • Prepare the deck ready to accept the Permaphalt • Apply Permaphalt • Apply Asphalt Paving • Clean drainage system Project Objectives • Re waterproof the bridge • To undertake the works with the minimum of disruption to pedestrians.
