23207-2013: UK-Nottingham: Supporting services for the government

Nottingham City Council are seeking to establish a service which will source, supply and deliver essential household items to citizens of Nottingham deemed eligible for ‘Household Support' by Nottingham City Council. Nottingham City Council will conduct the assessment as to who is to be eligible for support and the precise detail as to what ‘Household Support' items are required. The service will ensure that required items are available at the point of need to facilitate rapid resettlement and/or prevent extreme hardship. The service will form part of the City Council's ‘Emergency Hardship Fund' response. The Emergency Hardship Fund is the Local Authority led replacement for the Discretionary Social Fund - Crisis Loan and Community Care Grant elements -previously administered through the Department of Work and Pensions. The City Council will be responsible for setting the eligibility criteria and assessing eligibility for the scheme based on these criteria. The specific element of the Emergency Hardship Fund to be delivered by this service is the provision of ‘Household Support': essential household items required to help eligible citizens establish a home or relieve extreme hardship.
