Contract value: RAF Lossiemouth provides a base for operational squadrons flying, training, visiting aircraft and a search and rescue (SAR) capability together with an RAF Regt field sqn and an RAuxAF Regt Field Sqn. RAF Lossiemouth has been confirmed as the 2nd Main Operating Base (MOB 2) for the Typhoon Force and, from 2015, will operate three Squadrons of aircraft, the first of which is scheduled to arrive no later than 12.2013. In addition to the airfield, the station comprises a large number of operational, technical and domestic facilities together with supporting infrastructure. The site covers approximately 4.6km sq, the landscape within which RAF Lossiemouth is set is predominately coastal and flat, the ground conditions generally comprise silty, sandy subsoils. The existing HV distribution and control cable ring are the subject of increasing maintenance and are in need of immediate repair and upgrading. The systems have reached the end of their designed life and can not reasonably be expected to meet the future demands of the station. The future basing of the Typhoon exacerbates the requirement to provide a safe, reliable HV electrical supply across the site to ensure the Station can continue to deliver on its operational commitments into the known future. In the case of the Control Cable the existing installation is of insufficient capacity to serve the existing facilities. The objective of the project is to replace the HV Distribution System, the Control Cables and associated equipments with a phased drop out of key operational services to deliver a robust electrical installation which is reliable, energy efficient and of low maintenance capable of meeting the existing and planned electrical demands of the station. In addition, the works are to include the provision of a new main incoming Intake Sub-Station (ISS) to replace the existing facility. The integrity of the working environment and operational readiness of the current HV and Control Cables are to be maintained at all times during the planning, construction and compliance period.Health and Safety is paramount to the delivery of this contract, as is the MoD Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for Environmental Protection and Sustainability. All Contractor's personnel will need to be security cleared by the MoD prior to commencement of the works on site. The following project dates are indicative only and may be subject to change: Issue of Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) - February 13; Issue of Invitation to Tender - April 13; Contract Award - October 13;Estimated value excluding VAT: Range: between 5 000 000 and 10 000 000 GBP
