23171-2013: UK-Rotherham: Health and social work services

Healthwatch Rotherham is the local Healthwatch service (as described in the Health and Social Care Act 2012) that will be the consumer champion for health and social care representing the collective voice of people who use these services and the public. It will build up a local picture of community needs, experiences and aspirations by engaging and consulting people who use health and social care services in Rotherham. It will also utilise Rotherham's well established community network of organisations and interest groups to ensure it includes everyone's views. Any concerns about services raised will be reported to commissioners and providers in the first instance to enable local resolution, with the overall aim of improving outcomes for local people. Healthwatch Rotherham will also represent the views of people who use services, carers and the public on the Health and Wellbeing Board. It will also present information where appropriate to Healthwatch England to help improve services nationally. Healthwatch Rotherham will also provide a local NHS complaints advocacy service to support people who make a complaint about health services.
The Contract is to implement a Healthwatch service that MUST include the provision of a NHS complaints advocacy service.
The service will commence on the 1.4.2013, for a period of 24 months, with an option to extend the contract for a further 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance monitoring and funding being available from the Department of Health. The annual value of the contract is estimated to be GBP 220,000 for both 2013/14 and 2014/15 and of a similar amount, if the funding is available, for 2015/16.
