"This Employment Support Steps Programme is aimed at claimants on Jobseeker Allowance (JSA), Incapacity Benefit (IB), Income Support (IS) and Employment and Support Allowance (Work Related Activity Group) ESA (WRAG) in Mercia Jobcentre Plus District who due to their health conditions are not able to engage with current Government funded provision, not subject to mandatory Work Programme referral and unlikely to obtain work of 16 hours or more per week within the next 6 to 9 months. This programme is intended provide a 26 week period of support modules to help claimants re-focus from health issues, by building their confidence and motivation by identifying steps and activities that can move them forward ‘gradually’, but with fixed goals, to realise employment or participation in other contracted/non-contracted provision such as Work Choice or Work Programme.
