The Maritime and Coastguard Agency are seeking expressions of interest from experienced companies to tender for Design and Build works associated with construction of a new 41.25m high lattice steel tower at MCA Daedalus, Daedalus Aerodrome, Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire. The works will comprise the design, delivery to site and erection of a square lattice steel tower, construction a suitable tower concrete foundation, construction of a concrete slab foundation to support an unmanned equipment cabin, procurement and installation of an equipment cabin, provision of a car parking area and tower antenna and rigging works. The appointed Principal Contractor must be experienced and competent in terms of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and the Work at Height Regulations 2005. The works will be procured traditionally via single stage selective competitive tendering and let under a NEC Short Form of Construction Contract. The works are deemed to be notifiable under the CDM Regulations 2007. It is intended that this contract will be for a period of approximately 22 weeks between March and July 2013.
