English Heritage wishes to commission a project to analyse in detail specific housing development schemes which have been completed, and to evaluate their impact on the local historic environment – with the intention of identifying common issues, problems and local solutions together with resultant trends. Data and evidence gathered as part of this project will be used to help English Heritage develop its priorities in dealing with local authority (and other) partners in terms of advice and grants, thereby guiding sustainable change, minimising negative impacts and identifying opportunities to secure benefits for the historic environment and for existing and new communities.
