Contract value: Design and build of number of rail borne track workshop vehicles to provide a safe enclosed work area allowing operatives to carry out planned maintenance tasks, light renewals and intervention works protected from trains passing on adjacent lines open to traffic at line speed and to minimise exposure of staff to the elements.The unit shall be designed, built and approved to operate and transit without restriction as freight traffic on the UK rail network and shall be self propelled rail vehicle(s), incorprtaing a protected work area, materials, tools and equipment storage, office space, welfare unit (kitchen and toilet). The work area shall be designed to give the maximum permissible working area without fouling adjacent lines & compliance standards.
