Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), its Member States and International Co-operating Partners have been working to address food insecurity, poverty and livelihood vulnerability. Since 2006, SADC has implemented a Regional Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis (RVAA) Programme to support climate-resilient livelihoods and has made important progress in this regard. SADC will implement a new programme from 2012 to 2016 and its purpose is to enhance regional and national response to climate change, poverty and livelihood vulnerability. The DFID ClimateSmart programme will support this strategy. SADC has established a Programme Management Unit in the SADC Secretariat, Gaborone, Botswana. It is responsible for coordinating the programme. This contract will be to engage a service provider to assist in managing DFID's support to the programme. This will include managing funds of approximately GBP 3 600 000 over the contract period in order to assist SADC RVAA PMU to meet its requirements. The provider will require a permanent presence preferably in Gaborone and/or Johannesburg. Contract length is 2 years, with option to extend by 1 year.
