Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is looking to procure a robotic surgical system with wristed instrumentation to enable surgeons to perform delicate and complex operations through small incisions with increased vision, precision, dexterity and control.
The robotic surgical system will allow minimally-invasive surgery, traditionally termed ‘keyhole' or ‘laparoscopic' surgery, to be performed with both enhanced vision and surgical precision, whilst lessening the difficulty of complex operations. The system must be able to detect and filter out tremors in the surgeon's hand movements so as not to duplicate them.
