The manufacture and supply of 10 off New Generation Nuclear Flask Carriers for operation on the UK rail network in accordance with the attached drawing and document pack.
Vehicles are to be certified/homologated in accordance with the Freight Wagon Technical Specification for Interoperability (T.S.I.)/UK Notified National Technical Rules (NNTR's) for use on the UK Rail Network Infrastructure.
On completion, the vehicles are to be made available for collection by rail at a mainland UK location to be discussed and agreed.
The vehicles are required to enter service on a phased programme commencing December 2013 through to February 2014.

Contract value: DRS are a wholly owned subsidiary of the NDA, providing rail transport services for spent nuclear fuel from power stations to Sellafield, DRS operate and maintain the existing fleet on behalf of the NDA supporting Magnox Ltd (effectively NDA) and EDF transport contracts. DRS have established relationships with these organisations to determine the design requirements and future demand.DRS act as Design Authority and are the legally nominated entity responsible for the maintenance of the existing fleet under the Private Rail Wagon Agreement (PRWA). DRS are therefore acting as project manager for this particular tender, on behalf of the NDA.
