Crossrail (CRL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London and will act as the delivery agent for the implementation of the Crossrail Project as authorised by
the Crossrail Act (2008). Under the Act, CRL have been delegated the powers to obtain the necessary consents and to build a new passenger railway connecting London City, Canary Wharf, the West End and Heathrow Airport to areas East and West of London.

Contract value: The scope of services for ‘Steelwork Welding & Painting Technical Services' generally comprises services to provide assurance on CRL's Contractors' steelwork welding and painting by providing technical advice to CRL and verifying samples of the work being carried out by those Contractors.The scope of the services is expected to include:-— Provision of specialist technical advice to CRL on steelwork welding and painting,— Surveillance of Contractors' welding and painting, including review of submittals and checking compliance to procedures and good practice,— Checking controls established by Contractors for inspecting their steelwork welding and paintings,— Ad hoc inspection of samples of steelwork welding and painting,— Production and issue of reports to CRL to record findings,— Compliance with CRL's Contractors' site specific requirements and preparation and issue of required documentation (Method Statements etc) necessary for undertaking the Consultant's services; and— Attendance at factory premises to inspect off-site manufacturing where required.CRL intends to award two separate contracts for the following geographical areas:1. Western Delivery Section; and2. Central & Eastern Delivery SectionThe first and second placed Tenderers following the submission and evaluation of Tenders will be awarded the contracts, with the Tenderer in first place being given the choice of geographical area and the Tenderer in second place being awarded the other geographical area.If either of the appointed Consultants is, or has been, engaged for similar services in the supply chain of one of CRL's Contractors which is subject to verification then this would be considered a conflict of interest. In this situation the Consultant from the other geographical area would be instructed to undertake the relevant work instead.The indicative Contract value for each Contract is expected to be circa GBP 225,000 currency: GBPEstimated value excluding VAT: 225 000 GBP
