Contract value: The fleet is made up of 32 Seasonal MPVs, 1 Switches & Crossings inspection MPV and the Overhead Line MPV consists with associated wagons and equipment. 25 of the MPVs are two-car diesel multiple units, each compromising a master-powered driving unit and a slave-unpowered driving unit. Both the master and slave vehicle can accommodate up to 50 feet of modules. The MPV concept is founded on providing a flexible tool to tackle seasonal infrastructure performance challenges that Network Rail face every year. These are the autumn leaf-fall season, winter third-rail de-icing season and summer vegetation control season. The remaining 7 MPVs consist of a master vehicle and a powered slave and have an autumn/winter consist including de-icing modules. They are operated on a geographical basis as follows:- 32 are used for autumn treatment- 24 are used for winter services on 3rd rail sections of the Network- 8 are used to undertake Network Rail's national weedspray programme.- 1 MPV is used to inspect S&C- 2 Windhoff AG Power MPV consist used nationally for the replacement of Overhead Line Wires.The operational requirements are:- Provision of driving resources- Provision of operators to work the equipment as required.- Provision of services associated with the replenishment of the vehicles (water, fuel, adhesion modifier etc) and- Provision of depots where required.The maintenance requirements are:- Provision of resources to undertake planned preventative maintenance, arising work and repairs of the MPVs and modules.The Seasonal modules consist of:-68 nr.
