The RODs survey asks passengers about the trip they are making, including the time and location of their journey, different modes of transport involved, purpose of the journey and the ticket used. The results of the survey then help Transport for London find out more about passengers and their journeys. The information is instrumental in helping TfL to plan for the future, including scheduling train services, station modernisations and upgrades, plus work at transport interchanges.

During 2012, 11 stations were selected and c100 000 questionnaires were distributed across specified days and times. In 2012 there was a lower handout and response rate(14%) than previous years.
