RSRL requires some new items to extend an existing radioactive transport package from a single unit configuration to an one and a half unit configuration. The transport package is the type 3360 modular flask and the items required include a half unit flask body, shield ring and associated tie down clamps & fasteners. The half unit body comprises a lead filled welded steel fabrication measuring approximately 900mm diameter by 700mm long. Test requirements include scintillation testing to demonstrate adequate shielding. The shield ring is made from tungsten and steel and measures approximately 460mm diameter by 100mm long. The items are to be manufactured under a quality management system conforming to BS EN ISO 9001:2008. A quality plan detailing manufacturing and testing, and a full Lifetime Quality Records document pack will be required. Welding will be carried out by qualified welders working to approved weld procedures which will be independently reviewed. Key stages of the manufacturing process will be witnessed.
