Tender for the supply of research to help DECC understand what functionality people need from their heating controls. The purpose is to gather requirements for emerging heating control technologies by studying how people use existing heating controls. This forms a part of a two stage research programme. The first designs a potential trial to evaluate whether smarter heating controls could save energy. It reviews existing evidence, scans emerging technologies and compares their usability in order to inform the design of a potential trial. These will inform a decision around whether to proceed to the second stage, a field trial to evaluate energy savings from smarter heating controls.
