Bristol Genetics Laboratory (BGL) requires the provision of a Cytogenetic Image Analysis System which incorporates software modules and hardware to facilitate, multi-operator access including capture and analysis of G-banded chromosomes and fluorescent in situ hybridisation (FISH) preparations, automated metaphase finding and capture, and cellular FISH signal analysis and capture. The imaging analysis stations provided must be of high quality and durability, providing a cost effective solution to a variety of cytogenetic applications with rapid and efficient analysis and presentation facilities. The system should be flexible and scalable as genetic analysis is a rapidly developing field and new tests come on line frequently. The system should also be upgradable to take advantage of future technical innovations. There will also be a requirement to interface to the laboratory LIMS STARLIMS to import images into sample records. Systems supplied should enable the laboratory to comply with relevant parts of the Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) standards.
