EU Exit provides an opportunity to secure additional sea fishing quota for the UK fleet. The UK government has committed to develop and test identified new approaches to managing fishing quotas and there is significant interest in trialling approaches such as effort, community schemes, co-management, auctioning and also the greater integration of recreational angling. In order to assess and understand the effectiveness and impact of alternative approaches to quota management, robust design and evaluation of these trials is required.
