WHC - Disabled Adaptations

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is seeking an experienced Contractor to undertake disabled adaptations to both Private and Public Sector Housing. Due to current contractual arrangements, the exterior adaptations contract will not commence until 1st April 2022, with Interior Adaptations commencing on 1st April 2021 The scope of works include: Internal adaptations - Adapted Bathrooms/wetrooms and kitchens , door widening , (stair- lifts, tracking hoists and through floor lifts in Private Sector Housing) External adaptations - installation of grab bars / Balustrades and concrete ramps to the external areas of housing - extensions to form bedrooms and/or washing facilities) The works are carried out in both council stock and private sector housing. Whilst the works will be to the same specification, there are differences regarding the application and approval process: Council stock - In case of need the resident will be referred to an occupational therapist who will assess the situation and recommend changes to the accommodation. The council will then be responsible for making the changes (through this contract). Private Sector Housing - The council receive referrals from Occupational Therapist and provide a service of adaptations for non-council tenants. In addition the contractor will have to promote and administer this system which will include means testing for grant funding and administering the completion of valid applications with the supporting documentation The current Capital budget is approximately £1,000,000 per annum with an additional revenue spend of approximately £250,000 per annum. Please note that these are current predicted budgets but not a guarantee of spend IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 53 OF THE PUBLIC CONTRACTS REGULATIONS , THE DRAFT TENDER DOCUMENTS ARE INCLUDED< BUT SHOULD NOT BE COMPLETED AT THE APPLICATION STAGE
