Dear Providers, Housing First is an innovative and intensive approach to housing people who sleep rough, and other very vulnerable people, in safe and secure accommodation, with as few barriers as possible. Intensive, ongoing support is then provided to help sustain accommodation, and provide a foundation from which other issues may be addressed. The West Midlands Combined Authority has recently been awarded Housing First Pilot status by the Department for Communities and Local Government. To accompany the pilot status the West Midlands has been awarded an additional £9.6m in funding to implement the Housing First approach. The pilot will run for 3 years with a further two years of legacy support. Over this time the pilot will seek to accommodate and support 675 of the most vulnerable individuals across the West Midlands to substantially reduce levels of rough sleeping. Birmingham City Council is the Accountable Body for the delivery of the Housing First Pilot and now needs to put in place a structure to establish a programme for delivery of the Pilot. To support this Birmingham City Council requires a supplier for the provision of initial mobilisation support to the West Midlands Housing First Pilot.
